Nov. 11: The Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, has decided to distribute several portfolios he is holding at present to other senior ministers.
Nov. 11: The Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, has decided to distribute several portfolios he is holding at present to other senior ministers.
Sources said that Mr Botsa Satyanarayana may get the power portfolio in addition to panchayat raj, Mr Dharmana Prasada Rao will get finance in addition to revenue and the home minister, Ms Sabita Indra Reddy, will also have to handle women and child welfare.
The higher education minister, Mr D. Sridhar Babu, will be asked to look after commercial taxes and the endowment portfolio will go to the technical education minister, Mr Mopidevi. Mr Venkata Ramana will get infrastructure and the endowment minister, Mr G. Venkata Reddy, will get excise.
The CM reportedly took this decision because of the heavy work in the six ministries. He also wants to speed up disposal of files. However, Mr Rosaiah has decided to retain law and order and general administration like his predecessor YSR.
The move has triggered speculation in Congress circles that the Cabinet reshuffle may happen in January 2010 and not in December as decided earlier. Mr Rosaiah is planning a brief Legislature session in December and will go for the Cabinet reshuffle after that.
