Arjun Singh disturbed by allegations, claims local media

The vetran Congress leader who faught for the existance of sonia family is now in trouble.
For the first time since the Bhopal verdict came out earlier this week, Arjun Singh, the then Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister who is believed to have helped key accused Warren Anderson to leave the country, seems to have spoken out.
The editor of a Bhopal newspaper claims Singh told him he is perturbed over reports about his alleged role in facilitating Anderson's exit from Bhopal in a state government plane three days after the gas leak. (Did Arjun Singh arrange Anderson's exit?)

Singh is also quoted as saying that he would speak on the matter at an appropriate time.

Earlier, speaking to NDTV's group editor Barkha Dutt, Congress spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan also did not deny that Arjun Singh needs to clarify his stand. (Bhopal gas verdict: Questions over political culpability)

When asked if she thinks that Arjun Singh owes an answer to the people of India and the people of Bhopal, she said, "Well certainly, the facts need to come out."

"The party has always maintained that all questions that are raised in any such situation must be answered properly and responsibility should be fixed. The same norm applies to this case," AICC General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi told reporters on Thursday, but without naming Arjun Singh.

The biggest fallout of this week's verdict in the Bhopal gas tragedy case has been the refocusing of attention on Warren Anderson, who was Chief Executive Officer of Union Carbide Corporation. Anderson flew into India four days after the gas leak, on December 7. He had been charged with culpable homicide and was even taken into custody. Yet, a few hours later, Anderson flew out of Bhopal on the official plane of Chief Minister Arjun Singh. (Read: Bhopal gas tragedy: Questions over Warren Anderson's getaway)

So far, there have been several statements from investigators and aviation officials at that time that a call from the Chief Minister's office had facilitated the exit of Anderson.

The Congress party is in a spot after one of its senior-most leaders, Digvijaya Singh, said on Thursday that pressure from the USA could have been a factor in how the party's government tackled the aftermath of the Bhopal gas tragedy.(Read:Digvijaya defends Rajiv, says Arjun Singh should answer)

Speaking to NDTV from America, he said, "I don't know as I was not in Bhopal at the time of gas leak. It could be under US pressure but I am not aware of the facts." The Congressman was a minister in the Arjun Singh government in Madhya Pradesh at the time of the gas leak in 1984.

Moti Singh, who was the then Collector of Bhopal, has also suggested that the orders to provide safe and immediate passage to Anderson came from the top. "The Chief Secretary at that time called me to the room and told me to arrange for the departure of Warren Anderson," he told NDTV. (Watch: Bhopal then collector Moti Singh on Anderson)

Captain R S Sodhi, who was then Director of Aviation, Bhopal, has also told NDTV that he received a call from the office of the Chief Minister ordering him to arrange Anderson's departure.

Congress High command : hand in hand with YSR Son Jagan

Vundavalli’s mission ‘Patch-up Rosaiah and Jagan’

vundavalli arun kumar
Vundavalli Arun Kumar,  is now a man with a mission. Fondly called the loud mouth of the congress party, he is desperately trying to broker peace between YS Jagan MOhan Reddy and Rosaiah at the behest of Sonia Gandhi. According to reports, the congress High Command has unofficially deputed him to cool down the tensions between Jagan and Rosaiah as he is with both the parties.
In this process, he is probably one of the few congress leaders who came in support of Jagan and claimed that the issue between Jagan and Rosaiah is very small.
This move by the Congress High Command comes as a relief for Jagan, for it indicates that Sonia Gandhi has not lost her faith in Jagan.
According Sources Congress High Command is well awre of all the Opponents of slained leader Dr YSR and their tactis over the tall leaders family.
in the past Congress nevel left any family un attended who shed thier blood for the party cause. it was Dr YSR who was the back bone of resurgence of Congress I in all south states in particular with AP after PV Narsimharao, Kotal vijay bhasker reddy who indirectly helped TDP to come to power.
it was PV narsimharao who allowed NTR down fall and raise of NCB Naidu.

Jagan claims all is well, will continue his tour

New Delhi: Congress MP Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday met Union Law Minister and Andhra Pradesh Congress in-charge Veerappa Moily in New Delhi and claimed that all the issues between him and the party have been sorted out.

Moily asked Jagan to explain why he went ahead with his 'Odarpu Yatra' despite the Congress high command's diktat not to undertake the yatra (tour). Speaking to the media after the meeting Jagan said that everything was fine now.

"The meeting went very well and everything has been sorted out. There is no problem whatsoever. All misunderstandings have been cleared," said jagan.
The Congress MP said that he would continue with his 'Odarpu Yatra'.
"He (Moily) has given the go ahead to go and continue what I am doing," he said.
He is likely to continue his tour in the Andhra and Rayalaseema region of the state, but has been asked to stay away from Telangana till the by-elections for 12 Vidhan Sabha seats of the region which are to be held in a couple of months.
Sources also say Jagan has been asked not to break law and order, and to ensure that there is no problem for the common people. He has also been asked to help Congress win Rajya Sabha elections in the state.

He has been asked to strengthen the party and not do anything which will help the opponents.
Jagan had defied the party high command's diktat to refrain from his tour to Telangana areas apparently to meet and console the families of those who allegedly committed suicide or died of shock over the death of his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
Jagan had on Monday clarified that he would not leave the Congress party.
"There is no question of me leaving the Congress. I will remain in the party. I will request the party to allow me to continue the yatra. I don't think that any disciplinary action will be taken against me. I have not done anything wrong," Jagan told to press
Fearing a cross-vote from Jagan's loyalists in the Rajya Sabha elections, Sonia Gandhi has already requested Praja Rajyam chief Chiranjeevi to withdraw from the race for Rajya Sabha elections in Andhra.

Sonia and Indra made India proud

Sonia Gandhi, Nooyi in Asia's 8 top power women
Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Pepsico's India-born CEO Indra Nooyi and ICICI Bank chief Chanda Kochhar figure in CNN's list of eight of Asia's top power women.
Taking a 'look at the key women who are shaping Asia's political and economic landscape' on the occasion of 100th International Women's Day, the CNN's list is headed by China's 'Paper Queen' Zhang Yin.
Indra Nooyi, in the second place, 'lords over some 185,000 corporate minions in close to 200 countries', notes CNN. 'Nooyi's hard-as-nails leadership and her sense of fun (one-time lead guitarist in an all-girls rock band still performs regularly at corporate functions) has earned her spots on many 'best leader' lists in the US,' it adds.

Reservation for men: Sonia Gandhi

'We will have reservation for men'

2010-03-10 14:28:04
New Delhi: "Then we will have reservation for men," Congress president Sonia Gandhi said in a lighter vein on Wednesday when a Trinamool Congress leader contended that men would be a marginalised lot if the Women's Reservation Bill was enacted and implemented.

The 20-minute interaction happened inside the Lok Sabha after the proceedings had been adjourned following uproar over the Bill.

The contention of Kalyan Banerjee, a close associate of Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, was that women could spread their wings to general seats besides having their hold on the 33 per cent seats reserved for them in Lok Sabha and State assemblies.

Why no reservation for women in RS, asks Mamata

Coupled with this, it was a possibility that the constituencies which get rotated for women's reservation could see the fairer sex continue to occupy the seats which were no longer reserved.
