Seema to get Central varsity: What about Visakhapatnam's as a Promise

Anantapur, July 4: The union minister of state for human resource development, Ms D. Purandareswari, assured that a Central university would be set up in Rayalaseema if state government showed suitable land for this.She was here to inaugurate a Kendriya Vidyalaya near Gooty in Anantapur district on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that classrooms would build the destination of any country. She appe-aled to teachers and parents to impart quality education to children along with moral values. She said that India was the first country in the world to provide free midday meals to 13 crore children everyday. She also said that India was a pioneer in implementing the Right to Education Act as per an international conference on education held in 2001, seeking free and compulsory education to children between 6 and 14 years.
She exhorted the need for teachers to inculcate a sense of responsibility among students.
She said that it was a wrong notion that state government was reducing seats in IIITs as it was acquiring infrastructure by temporarily reducing seats to impart quality education to more students in the near future.
She hailed former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s innovative welfare schemes, especially the fee reimbursement scheme to poor students.
The minister said that about 100 Kendriya Vidyalayas would be established across the country in addition to the already existing 1,000 schools during this academic year.
While leaving the venue, she replied to the Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's fans who had earlier insisted that she comment on the Odarpu Yatra that the Congress high command was positive to this.
The minister for agriculture, Mr N. Raghveera Reddy, the Anantapur MP, Mr Ananta Venkatarami Reddy, MLAs K. Madhusudhan Gupta and Sudhakar were also present.
