YSR Loyalist: Mareppa castigates leaders

Independent Media

The Congress leader and former minister, Mr M. Mareppa, castigated the party senior leaders for making critical remarks against the ongoing Odarpu Yatra being taken out by the Congress MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, and cautioned them not to unleash their tongues only to impress the Congress high command. the Former minister who arrived here to visit the ailing former minister, Mr Jakkampudi Ramamohan Rao, on Tuesday challenged the senior leaders to contest in the elections successfully without carrying the portrait of former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy and also without mentioning several welfare schemes initiated by him.
Mr Mareppa said, “Several senior leaders of the Congress party who failed even to get elected as corporators are causing a lot of damage to the party image with their unsavoury remarks against Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Congress MP from Kadapa made political comments only when he was provoked by the senior leaders during his tour at Srikakulam. These leaders are apprehensive about their very existence in the party if the Congress MP gets power into his hands. They should be expelled from the party. I am going to New Delhi to explain about these developments to the party high command soon.”
Speaking about the party matters, he expressed ang-uish over the way the social justice in the party was being given a raw deal and said that there was no proper representation for the people belonging to Madiga community in the party.
He alleged that only those ‘waste’ leaders having cash and caste were being given prominent posts in the party. He said that only those leaders who could fight for their rights become victorious and added Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy was adopting the same path. He ruled out any need for the Congress MP to move out of the Congress.

Recalling how the Congress party was brought back to power by the late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy in 2004 elections in the state and led the party to victory again in 2009 polls, Mr Mareppa was critical against the honour given to the Telugu Desam founder president N.T. Rama Rao’s daughter Ms D. Purandareswari by accommodating her in the Union Cabinet while creating several hurdles for Rajasekhar Reddy’s son to take up Odarpu yatra.

Referring to the Congress senior leader, Mr V. Hanumantha Rao’s remarks that Mr Jagan was mobilising people for his tour, Mr M. Mareppa said that there was no such need for the MP and said that in case Mr Hanumantha Rao intended to hold a public meeting, his own family members would not attend it.

He turned his ire against the PCC president, Mr D. Srinivas, the Congress MP, Mr Madhu Yashki and party senior leader, Mr V. Hanumantha Rao, stating that though they claimed to be the leaders of the BCs, they did nothing to improve the lot of backward class community.

Reacting on the remarks of Jagan’s family properties, he called for nationalisation of the properties of all those who were speaking on the issue and said that if all the leaders pay their income tax, the country would witness development.

Mr Mareppa also described the Congress MPs and MLAs as cowards for failing to take part in Odarpu yatra
